Knowledge Economy - School Success
Meeting Minutes - Feb 20, 2007
Rick shared a document on our 'charge' from administration (compiled by Jerry Thomas).
A vision of our purpose was provided by Bill Grunkemeyer:
-enhance human and social capital
-have a significant impact in Ohio
Possible 'products':
-inventory of school success programs
-develop curriculum or help to market these programs
-find what is missing and create something new
-make curriculum available electronically
-monitor impacts of OSU KE-SS programs
-promote KE idea internally and externally
We held a conversation on our possible future direction:
-provide assistance to others to develop, market and deliver KE-SS programs (ie. mentoring)
-prioritize existing programs and offer to promote these
-evaluate 'school success' programs
-five programs listed on website - invite representatives to participate on our team
-Real Money / Real World - Nancy (or Beth or Teresa)
-College 101 - Brian Reison (sp?)
-Afterschool Program (4H team) - Teresa
-Science Education for Teachers - Joe
-Successful Schools/Successful Communities - Joe
-find KE needs and create new programming
-make material available electronically
-offer a day-long session or a presentation at annual conference
-as an in-service, to promote KE ideas
-inform others about the programs
-to result in mentoring
We wish for Extension colleagues to think about their current programs in terms of KE.
Short-term actions:
-inventory KE-SS programs (to help find the needs)
-as a framework, listing programs targeted to:
-teachers/administrators
-parents
-students
-community leaders
-promote the five KE-SS programs already listed (impacts in KE)
Action items:
1) Rick will distribute brochure to group via e-mail and hardcopies through snail mail.
2) Nancy will invite Beth and Teresa to participate and will request material for website (to Rick).
3) Joe will invite Brian to join us and ask for material for website (to Rick)
4) Rick and Dana will generate an informational announcement for all-extension (invitation, inventory, and request material for website).
5) Rick will begin a framework for inventory to share on basecamp and website.
6) Everyone send relevant KE-SS program titles, educator contact information, and website link to Rick for the inventory.
7) Everyone send relevant material on these program to Rick for inclusion on website.
